| https://www.ebay.com/itm/324724843099Mephisto Exclusive chess computer, Reflection II module, Vancouver 16 bit module, 'Adapter Modul', boxed.
A rare opportunity to play both a classic hardware module the Vancouver 16 bit and the 25 classic programs emulated on the Phoenix Chess Systems Reflection II module.
Please note that the Reflection display does not sync with camera's shutter speed so the display is not shown correctly.
The Reflection II module is currently just under £1300 which offers 25 programs costing many hundreds of pounds to buy each as modules or original hardware. Most of the classics from Novag, Fidelity, Mephisto including Fidelity, Risc 2500, Portorose, Lyon, Almeria etc. from many of the leading programmers. Programs with strengths from weaker to expert are offered.
The board is in very good condition, just some light marks but no lightening of the squares from pieces. With original box in used but quite good condition.
Supplied with the Mephisto HGN 5007A power supply with UK three pin and the regulator board 'Adapter Modul' for the Exclusive. The Vancouver manual (copy supplied) stresses the importance of only using the module with the regulator board. The PSU is unregulated so should not be plugged into board's own PSU input.
To use the two Phoenix modules, the Adapter Modul is left in the drawer and the PSU supplied by Phoenix (not shown but in the white box of the photo) feeds this module leaving the variable PSU set at 7.5V. The Phoenix PSU has a higher current rating required for the module compared with the older Mephisto PSU.
The seller has used for many hours play on many different Phoenix programs and has found 100% reliable.
Neither the Phoenix nor the Vancouver modules should be powered by either PSU via the Exclusive's own power input.
The Phoenix module has many of the classic programs from a variety of programmers using the original menu structure for each. The spreadsheet prepared by the seller lists them using data from the invaluable schachcomputer.info website. The manual for most programs can be found online.
The CPU is a 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex-A5 with 1 Gb RAM so many programs scale to be stronger than for original far weaker CPUs. The seller enjoyed in particular the Glasgow program played against Chess Tiger Pro (iPhone app with scalable ELO strengths) where it was winning at 400 ELO points above its original rating with interesting games.
